Kathy Klotz-Guest

Keeping It Human

Marketing and Communications Strategy, Facilitation, Humor

Kathy Klotz-Guest, marketing strategist, messaging expert, and humorous storyteller, is CEO of Keeping it Human. For 20 years, she has helped companies (SGI, Gartner, Excite, MediaMetrix, Intermolecular, etc.) create better products and turn marketing “messages” into human stories that inspire customer action. What makes Kathy different? Equally right- and left-brained, she spent years creating and managing tech products, teams, and development budgets, and an equal time speaking, writing, and promoting products in the most human (read: no jargon!) way possible. She is the human translator between cluttered marketing-speak and simple, powerful customer-speak. Brands that have a human touch win in the marketplace.

How many marketing strategists have a comedy background? With a background in humor and improvisation, Kathy knows how to inject fun into stories that resonate with customers. She also helps internal teams innovate differently by challenging assumptions about what’s possible, injecting play as creative fuel for discovering new and better business ideas. She knows how to bring out the best ideas in your people with facilitation that is fun, fresh and human.

Kathy has an MLA from Stanford University, an MBA in marketing strategy and entrepreneurship from UC Berkeley, and an MA in applications design (nerd!). A founding fellow and board member for the Society for New Communications Research (sncr.org), she performs with the ComedySportz San Jose Rec League. And though she has done stand-up and sketch comedy for many years, her little dude is still her favorite audience.
